11:00 Norm Kent

Norm Kent is a Fort Lauderdale criminal defense attorney who has gained a national reputation by successfully advocating cases and causes designed to end the government's repressive war against drugs. In 1982, Norm sued the State of Florida for spraying paraquat, a toxic poison, on marijuana fields. In 1987, he won an acquittal for Elvy Mussika, who had been growing marijuana in her Hollywood, Florida home to offset the effects of glaucoma. Norm successfully pioneered the medical necessity defense, and extended it further to caregivers when he won 1997 and 1998 acquittals for individuals charged with using and distributing marijuana for the Key West Cannabis Buyers Club.

Chris Conrad has been one of the pre-eminent spokespersons on cannabis reform for more than a decade. He founded the Business Alliance for Commerce in Hemp (BACH), which launched the modern hemp industry, as well as the Family Council on Drug Awareness. He has authored four books, including Hemp: Lifeline to the Future and Hemp for Health, and contributed to many more. He produced many influential fact sheets, such as "The Many Uses of Hemp," "Hemp for Ecology", and "10 Things Everyone Should Know About Marijuana." He was a driving force behind the California medical marijuana initiative, Prop 215, and curator of the Hash-Marijuana-Hemp Museum in Amsterdam. Known for his electifying and eloquent speeches, he is one of just a handful of court-qualified legal experts on hemp, marijuana, and medical marijuana. He has helped draft numerous pieces of reform legislation, and wrote the Drug War Truce. Chris Conrad is a renowned champion of human rights and economic sustainable, and one of the most powerful and effective voices of the reform movement. His upcoming book is entitled Pot Pride.

Few people have been as visible in the medical marijuana movement as Dennis Peron. He founded the San Fransisco Cannabis Buyer's Club and was a major force behind California's Proposition 215, which legalized the medical use of marijuana.


6:00 The Toyes

American rock & reggae counter-culture heroes The Toyes are best known for "Smoke Two Joints," the most requested American reggae track of all time. Now, in this latest and greatest incarnation of the band, the original core Toyes team up with Jamaican reggae legends Fully Fullwood & Santa Davis, formerly of the Peter Tosh Band. This collaboration can be heard on The Toyes' 1999 full-length CD release, "Strange Animals." Although not as well-known as "Smoke Two Joints," other Toyes herb songs adopted by the movement include "Hey, Uncle Sam, Leave Us Pot Smokers Alone" and their medical marijuana anthem, "Green Doctor."

Joanne Rand's all original "song poetry" has been dubbed "Psychedelic Folk Revival" by producer Stephen Hart, and "Acoustic Ritual" by author Terry Tempest Williams. A solo artist for fourteen years, Rand has five independently released albums receiving worldwide air-play.
